(draft) THE TRIP: On June 1 through 10, Mike and some fellow
hunters (names to come) went duck and pigeon hunting in both Paraguay and
Argentina with Trek Safaris. Thanks to Erroll Cheney we have some very
good photos that describe both the hunting trip and the countries. For
anyone who considers hunting an attack on poor defenseless birds, these photos
show the people who actually eat the birds. In fact they depend upon them
as meat in their diet. At the end of the photos are some statistics that
show how incredibly poor the indigenous peoples (Indians) actually are in
Paraguay. In spite of the large numbers of birds, there are game wardens
as in the US who control the numbers of birds. And the normal diet of the
birds as here are grains farmers grow. Thus the ranchers are happy with
the presence of hunters.
